Andy Warhol POP Art

Objective: Students will learn to navigate Selection tools and layers while discovering Andy Warhol and Pop art.

Pop Art Cheat Sheet
- 1. Take a picture of yourself or a friend and upload to Photoshop.
- 2. Make a new document that is 8x10 and a resolution of 300.
- 3. Pull in picture to new document and size it to the page.
- 4. Hit the crop tool then hit the return button twice.
- 5. Go to Image> Adjustments> Black & White. Hit Okay.
- 6. Go to Image> Adjustments> Brightness & Contrast. Adjust until you have a nice crisp black and a vibrant white.
- 7. Go to Filter> Filter Gallery>Artistic> Cutout. Move the slider bars until you have 3 Values of grey within the picture. Hit Okay when done.
- 8. Make a copy layer of your original image. LOCK ALL THE LAYERS.
- 9. Make a new blank layer by hitting the page icon (looks like a post-it).
- 10. Click on the still locked portrait layer you made and select the magic wand tool. Tolerance should be set at around 20 and contiguous should be unchecked.
- 11. Click on a shade of grey, black, or white.
- 12. Switch to the unlocked layer 1.
- 13. Pick a color and paint using paint brush tool.
- 14. Repeat steps 10 – 13 until all the grey, black, or white is filled.
- 15. Once you have 4 different panels made, using the move tool, transform the size to half the document (8x10 reduces 4x5). Remember to hold shift to keep dimensions!

Emoji Portrait
Objective: Create a portrait using emoji symbols for color and structure.
EQ: How can we shift color changes in skin, hair, cloths, etc. with the set colors of the emojis?
Suggestion: Look at the shadows and highlights on the skin! Use Dodge and Burn to get this effect.
Hold the Alt key when using move tool to quickly replicate the image.

Objective:
- Students will demonstrate how to use paint brush tool, eye dropper, and mixer brush tool.
- Students will execute painting accurately. Colors are blended well; there are shadows, highlights, and a high level of detail.

Digital Imaging 2: Typography Art
Objective: Students will demonstrate the type in area, type on path, and create outlines with type to design a Typography built image.
