Pop Art Cheat Sheet
- 1. Take a picture of yourself or a friend and upload to Photoshop.
- 2. Make a new document that is 8x10 and a resolution of 300.
- 3. Pull in picture to new document and size it to the page.
- 4. Hit the crop tool then hit the return button twice.
- 5. Go to Image> Adjustments> Black & White. Hit Okay.
- 6. Go to Image> Adjustments> Brightness & Contrast. Adjust until you have a nice crisp black and a vibrant white.
- 7. Go to Filter> Filter Gallery>Artistic> Cutout. Move the slider bars until you have 3 Values of grey within the picture. Hit Okay when done.
- 8. Make a copy layer of your original image. LOCK ALL THE LAYERS.
- 9. Make a new blank layer by hitting the page icon (looks like a post-it).
- 10. Click on the still locked portrait layer you made and select the magic wand tool. Tolerance should be set at around 20 and contiguous should be unchecked.
- 11. Click on a shade of grey, black, or white.
- 12. Switch to the unlocked layer 1.
- 13. Pick a color and paint using paint brush tool.
- 14. Repeat steps 10 – 13 until all the grey, black, or white is filled.
- 15. Once you have 4 different panels made, using the move tool, transform the size to half the document (8x10 reduces 4x5). Remember to hold shift to keep dimensions!
